Lifestyle Alternatives CentreThe founder of the Lifestyle Alternatives Centre of Palm Beach (LAC), Domina DeManda, is honored to have been asked to organize and produce this year's Fetish School. She, along with some of the LAC members and guests who are known and wonderful educators in various fetishes and alternative lifestyle practices are thrilled to be presenting 6 great workshops and making them kinky reality for the attendees of Fetish Factory's 13th Anniversary Weekend. not-for-profit educational and social organization that is based in Palm
Beach County and solely committed to benefit its Members, Visiting Guests,
Sponsors and those Alternative Lifestyle Communities who fund its operations.
LAC is dedicated to its mission to provide those benefits in the form
of resources that are thoughtful, risk-aware, consensual, and non-exploitative
in any and all forms, including: How long has LAC been around? Its origins date back to 1998 when the original Founder of BDSM-Village, Domina DeManda, along with her husband, Daddy Jeff (AKA Shaman), relocated to Southeast Florida and began investigating community needs. In 2001, the couple's efforts helped them to identify that there was a definite need for diverse support resources, educational options, applied practice venues and social/cultural interaction environments for those interested in the alternative arts, culture, life and living, including styles, practices, techniques and modalities that also translated well for film, photography, set design, costuming, roleplay, and performance arts. The original model for LAC was developed in August 2004 and evolved from the original mission of BDSM-Village with a primary objection for the new LAC model being to create resources, options, venues and environments that would fill a diverse void in various alternative lifestyle communities that embraced fetishes. Unfortunately, the launch of the LAC model was delayed for two years due to several active hurricane seasons which culminated with Hurricane Wilma destroying the original facility for LAC. In June 2006, the search began for just the right facility and in July 2006, a new facility was secured a facility which enabled a full launch the LAC model, with it's re-grand opening held in September 2006, followed by the launch of PAG. Committed to Your Health & BenefitLAC is non-smoking, no drugs, no alcohol facility located in a secured and gated complex that is safe, well-lit and located in a city that is supportive of its mission. There's one steadfast rule at LAC:All Members participating in any and all alternative performance arts, arts, cultural, lifestyle and living activities at any LAC functions or its facility must always be thoughtful, risk-aware, consensual, and non-exploitative to others in any and all forms. We hope this rule translates beyond the scope of the LAC facility and functions to our Members' lives beyond. In other words, live life fully and enjoy as much as possible in doing so, but live consciously and conscientiously with care for others and their well-being, as well as your own. Who are the Members of LAC?There is a great group of people who make up the Membership of our pansexual organization. LAC Members are people of all genders, all sexual preferences (straight/gay/bisexual/trans) and all role orientations who are 20 years of age or older. Our Members range from inexperienced newcomers, who may be just beginning their research and experience, to seasoned veterans with many years of knowledge and experience in alternative performance arts, arts, culture, life and living. Photo Artisans GuildBecoming a LAC Member supports LAC remaining open and also gives you an optional membership in the Photo Artisans Guild (PAG), which will provide LAC Members who are into fine art photography, performance art, acting, modeling, make-up artistry, costuming and corsetry with an awesome opportunity to practice and hone their wonderful skills, whether amateur or professional. LAC and PAG FoundersAt the prompting (and gentle nudging) of their beloved sister and leather lifestyle elder, Viola Johnson, as well as others who this couple looks to as Mentors and Leaders in the various alternative lifestyle communities to get out and "share opportunity for knowledge and education with others", Domina DeManda and Daddy Jeff (AKA Shaman) launched their lifestyle household, House of Shaman, in January of 2004, BDSM-Village in July of 1997, LAC in August of 2004 and again in September of 2006 at its new facility and PAG in September of 2006.
